Conscious communication is a new form of conversational techniques, expression rules and non-violent communication habits which can be learnt to bridge communication divides. Our guest speakers, Estève Pannetier and Anu Timmerbacka, will share the result of their research and insights into Quantum Conversations. Together they have built www.GreenElephant.org, which is a social enterprise with a mission to empower people to get along with meaningful conversations, communication and relationships.
Anu is a conscious communication coach. Her passion is to build connections and bridges between people regardless of their cultural backgrounds, gender and other diversity gaps. With these conscious influence skills, Anu wants to support the modern change agents who choose to use them for positive social impact.
Estève was trained as an innovation anthropologist and has been researching and building the periodic table of communication to empower humans to bridge the inevitable communication divides between people. Estève has brought his enthusiasm and practical insights to start-ups founders, corporate leaders and diplomats in over 15 countries over the last 23 years.

Our guest speaker, Kristina Kappelin, will provide a virtual guided tour of Villa San Michele, a Swedish pearl in the Mediterranean. Villa San Michele, with its award-winning garden, was built on the beautiful Italian island of Capri at the beginning of the 20th century by the Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe (1857-1949). Our guest speaker Kai Crooks-Chissano is a project design and management specialist, researcher and writer with multi-layered experience in the education, creative and social development sectors. She has worked at the United Nations, with NGO’s and the private sector, managing, designing, implementing and evaluating programmes, conducting focused facilitation, and strategic planning. Kai’s passion is education and helping people to find their voice. Working with children and seeing how they grapple with spelling, Kai began research for a PhD in 2019 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Kai’s talk will be on her research using drama and storytelling to teach children and also using it in change management within corporates. It will be an interactive session sharing her research and telling stories. She also wants your input on ways you may have used to teach children how to spell. Abdulghani will be followed by MIRC Immediate Past President Ray Lindquist who will give our inaugural RED Talk: "Adult musicians’ individual practice habits and their effect on the musician’s health and sense of well-being." RED stands for "Rotarians Every Day, experiences worth sharing," modelled after the short, powerful presentations made famous by TED Talks. The idea is for Malmö International Rotary Club members to present their own experiences or information about a current project they are working on in order to inspire others and foster more opportunities for collaboration between club members. Our guest speaker, Paul Cahill, will present information on the Calgary Centennial and Capital City Rotary clubs' latest project, a collaboration to support 3D printing of prosthetic limbs for children in Sri Lanka. The Colombo Friend in Need Society (CFINS) is the oldest charity in Sri Lanka. They have been delivering prosthetics in the country since 1985. This project will use advanced technology to enable CFINS to deliver high-quality below-the-knee prosthetics focusing on children. It will provide hardware, software and training along with materials to construct almost a year’s worth of limbs. Anna Hammargren is a Swedish diplomat who began her diplomatic service in 1991. Her presentation tonight is titled "The Swedish Foreign Service: How foreign and what service?" During her time in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA or Utrikesdepartmentet), Anna has held key positions abroad and in MFA in Stockholm. Foreign postings have included Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish embassy in Paris and Ambassador of Sweden in Morocco, Rabat among others. Having also worked with strategic planning, budgeting, and acting as special enjoy to various trouble spots, Anna is currently Head of Administration (Expeditionschef) based in Stockholm. Anna has a degree in Political Science, Macroeconomics and History, is married with three children and currently lives in Stockholm. This evening Anna will share with us some insights and reflections on Sweden's foreign policy, why foreign policy, in general, is important, and also why it is not enough. Johan Munck is a European retailer of Swedish origin who was “deported” in the 90-ties when working for H&M. It took him 19 years of international missions for several retailers in 6 countries before returning to Sweden again. He has held several leading positions for international retailers like H&M, Esprit, NewLook and Hunkemöller. Today he is the CEO of the Swedish kidswear icon, Polarn O. Pyret. This evening Johan will share with us the challenge of coming into a company in crisis just on the brink of the most turbulent times the retail industry, as well as he himself, has ever seen - the Covid-19 pandemic. This period changed the retail sector forever and accelerated a long-term trend where there is no turning back. Johan will let us in on how they succeeded in their company turn-around and his view on the future of retail. Hala is from Afghanistan but has been living in Malmö since June of 2019. Studied Political Science and Economics. Loureen is from Nairobi, Kenya and has lived in Malmö for a year now. She is trained in biotechnology and biomedicine and has worked mainly in biomedical research to gain better understanding of diseases such as malaria, cancer, and more recently, cardiovascular diseases We're looking forward to getting to know Hala and Loureen in a whole new way!
