Our guest speaker Jan Larsson heads up the Swedish arm of the British charity Aquabox, which provides safe drinking water through the use of filtration units, and other humanitarian aid, to crisis zones around the world. He will join us via Zoom. Since its formation in 1992, Aquabox has distributed more than 110,000 boxes to countries suffering from natural and man-made disasters, helping hundreds of thousands of people in more than 50 countries. Each Aquabox Gold Box, which is tailored to support a family group, contains water purification filters as well as items of humanitarian aid to help with shelter and shelter building, lighting, cooking and feeding, educational development and hygiene. Prior to Jan's presentation, we will hear an Ego Speech by our member Steffan Ehranmalm. This will be a hybrid meeting held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Malmö, and virtually on Zoom. RED stands for "Rotarians Every Day, experiences worth sharing," modelled after the short, powerful presentations made famous by TED Talks. The idea is for Malmö International Rotary Club members to present their own experiences or information about a current project they are working on in order to inspire others and foster more opportunities for collaboration between club members. Tonight our very own Devica Nystedt will share information about the Rotary Peace Center and Rotary Fellowship programme. In Sweden, Uppsala University hosts the Rotary Peace Centre and offers 2 years Master's scholarships to potential peacebuilders.

Carina Olofsson Gavelin has a passion for wine. Especially Swedish wine. She has been cultivating grapes and making wine herself since 2005 and does tours to her vineyards in Sweden. In 2017 she was appointed Swedish wine ambassador. Today's topic is about Skåne as the leading wine area in Scandinavia and how its wines have taken a huge step forward in quality over the last five to ten years. Every bottle of wine has a story. As a former wine journalist and now sommelier it allows Carina to share these stories based on exploring the history, culture, the grape, how a wine matches the local cuisine and the immediate reaction of the wine drinker. In 2018 Carina started the association “Skånska Drycker” which works to promote locally produced craft beverages from Scania region and she was nominated by colleagues for the Scanian Wine Award of the Year 2019. This will be a hybrid meeting held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Malmö, and virtually on Zoom.
